Is It Truly Goodbye To Sully The Pilot Whale?

Just been hit with a devastaing rumour. Sully the pilot whale, at SeaWorld San Diego, has rumoured to of passed away on May 23rd. It is said he died of 3rd degree sun burns on his skin. Sully was rescued by SeaWorld in 2009 and has resided there since. We wait for conformation of Sully's status, however, SeaWorld San Diego have opened their Manta roller coaster this week. They've yet to say anything about Sully, and I'm beginning to wonder whether they will say anything at all.

Is Kasatka Pregnant?

The rumour has been going round for a while now that 34 year old Kasatka of SeaWorld San Diego is pregnant, possibly with 23 year old Kshamenk at Mundo Marino in Argentina.

If Kasatka is pregnant, she is said to be due January 2013. I think this is complete and utter crud. Speculation of her size and general behaviour has been circulating. Some say it's just the angle of the lense on the camera, but I genuinely think she is. Here are my reasons:

  • Kasatka hasn't had a calf since Kalia, which was in 2004. She is ready for another calf.
  • It gives SeaWorld San Diego another reason to move either Nakai or Kalia since they're no use for breeding.
Now, although Tim Zimmermann isn't the most reliable source, what he is proposing makes sense. If Kasatka was impregnated during the summer of last year, she would be due in August this year, and to be honest, recent pictures and footage make it look like she's going to pop any second.
